Tammy Jo Brown

BEND, Ore. - Tammy Jo Brown died Tuesday, June 15, 1999, at her bend home, after a five-year battle with breast cancer. She was 40.

A celebration of life service will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, June 20, 1999, in the First United Methodist Church, 680 N.W. Bond, Bend, Ore. A time of fellowship and refreshments will follow the service in the church.

She was born in Enid, Okla., to Ronald and Leah Jane (Stewart) Bachman. Tammy lived in many places while her father served in the military, including Okinawa, Germany, Washington, Maryland, Florida and Utah. She attended high school in Brandon, Fla., and Logan, Utah, graduating in 1976. Tammy graduated from Utah State University with a bachelor's degree in liberal arts.

She married David T. Brown in 1987, at the Sunriver Community Church, Sunriver, Ore. Tammy worked at Mount Bachelor Ski Education Foundation and Central Oregon Community College prior to having children.

Tammy had many hobbies and interests, including reading, skiing, soccer, swimming, quilting and collecting frogs. Frogs became a rallying theme during her challenging treatments and extended illness.

Tammy was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bend.

Tammy is survived by her husband, David; and their two children, Shannon and Kevin; her grandmother, father, brother and two sisters. She was preceded in death by her mother.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Sara Fisher Breast Health Project at St. Charles Hospital, the First United Methodist Church, or the children's (Shannon and Kevin) education fund, at the Greenwood branch of Western Bank.

Autumn Funerals of Bend is handling all arrangements.

Tammy was one of the best people that I have ever had the good fortune to know.
