Death:  Jun. 20, 2010
Murray
Salt Lake County
Utah, USA

Jay Clair Golding, age 52, passed peacefully into the presence of our Heavenly Father on Sunday, June 20, 2010 at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah. He defended his optimism, testimony and humor through his nearly fifteen-month encounter with melanoma.

The son of S. Ross and Joy P. Golding, Jay was born February 23, 1958. He grew up in Logan, Utah with his three siblings. He had a talent and love for running and competed on the Logan High School Track Team. He graduated class of '78.

Following graduation, he completed a memorable two year mission in Caracas, Venezuela for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

In March of 1981, he married Bonnie Lynne Bailey. This union brought him his two daughters, many years of employment at Albertson's in Logan, and an attempt for a successful grocery store built and managed by himself and his partners. Jay and Bonnie were later divorced.

Jay moved to the Ogden/Salt Lake City area, where he met his wife, Sheila M. Irwin. Jay and Sheila were married May 23, 1998. Their son was born in February of 2000.

He was an impeccable carpenter and rightly found satisfaction in his precise work. This industry took him to many cities and states where he left behind cabinetry, woodwork, and details by the craft of his hand.

Jay served in many callings for the LDS Church, his most recent being the Ward Choir Director. This calling brought him the opportunity to expound on and share his appreciation and enthusiasm for music with those outside of his family.

Jay was an avid outdoorsman, spending many camping, hiking, and snow caving trips with his family and close friends.

Jay is survived by: his loving spouse, Sheila M. Golding; his children, JaCeelyn (Cole) Smith, VA, Shantel (Trevor) Gonzalez, UT, and Jacob S. Golding, UT; grandchildren, Bailey, Jaxon, and Pratt; mother, Joy P. Golding; siblings, brother, Don (Cherryl) Golding, ID, SaRene (Scott) Brooks, UT, and sister-in-law, Kris Golding, UT. As well as many nieces and nephews and close friends, whom Jay thought the world of. Preceded in death by: his father, S. Ross Golding, and his older brother, Edwin R. Golding.
